Coney Island Scarf Variation – Finished!

The Coney Island Scarf — with my adjustments — is finished.

not a coney island scarfI did the majority of stitching on this nice scarf while watching football… a great way to keep my hands busy and still be able to pay attention to the game.  I started with the Coney Island Scarf pattern, free from Lion Brand, but modified it to keep the ends square.

Not a Coney Island Scarf Pattern

Finished size: 6″ x 68″

Supplies:
189 gm worsted weight yarn – I used Red Heart Super Saver – Buff Fleck
US Size 9 knitting needles — I used a 16″ circular
stitch markers

Cast on 3 sts.
Knit one row.
Inc Row:  K1, kfb, k to end of row – each row will increase by one stitch.
Repeat Inc Row until you have 42 stitches – this is the width.  Make it any width you would like – less stitches will be narrower, more stitches will be wider.
Body of scarf:
Row 1: K1, place marker, kfb, k to last 3 sts, k2tog , k1.
Row 2: Knit all stitches
Repeat R1 & R2 until you reach the length you like.  The placement of the marker should help remind you which side of the scarf you are on so that the inc and dec are in the correct postions.
Dec Row: K1, k2tog, k to end of row.
Repeat dec row until you have 3 stitches left.
Knit one row.
Bind off.

If you find an error, please let me know so I can adjust the instructions.
