Planning — New Starts in Cross Stitch

Frodo & Galadriel by Matt Stewart / chart by Heaven and Earth Designs

It seems I have a hard time resisting the HAED stitch a longs.  I was absolutely certain that I would be an observer to the Lord of the Rings SAL until …. Frodo and Galadriel (F&G) was released yesterday.  HAED currently has eight different designs that are based on LOTR — a couple are availaible in different sizes.  I personally like the work of Matt Stewart, three of the LOTR cross stitch designs are from his original art — including Frodo and Galadriel.  The photo above is the mock-up from the HAED website.

Today I plan to go fabric shopping.  Eighteen count aida for F&G – cream seems the best choice since I expect a bit of show through from the background fabric and the faces and dress need to be close to the fabric color.  The finished size will be quite large at 25″ by 37.5″ – I hope they have fabric that is large enough!!

Also, I will be shopping for fabric for The Auction by TIAG.  The model is stitched on 14 count charcoal aida but I will be looking for a 32/36 count linen in grey or blue.

Last but not least I will be looking for the chart – A Maryland Inspiration.  This absolutely beautiful sampler is the 2012 2013 SAL project for the With My Needle and Pen online sampler group.  Another large project that finishes about 19″ square on 40 count.
