Quilting the Shabby Chic Quilt – continued

Shabby Chic Sit and Sew – quilted

The Shabby Chic quilt was great fun to quilt!

With the bigger finished quilt size, I was expecting to be piecing the backing with all of the border leftovers — but — the fabric I had purchased was big enough — there were even a few inches to spare.

The quilt markings from the hera marker were extremely easy to see as long as I kept the bright light off.  The shadows created by my machine light were at the perfect angle to make the lines super visible.  The lines were as easy to see from beginning to end.

The quilting was done with a stitch length of 3.0 using YLI Select cotton thread.  This was the first time I have used the YLI and I loved it.  It feels more like a thread designed for hand quilting which made it a little wiry in the bobbin but not so much that it was a problem and it produced very little lint.  The batting is Warm & Natural (the new version that is a blend).  It took about 5 hours to do the quilting.

On to the binding…..

Very nice quilt!! Love your color choices. I quilt all my quilts on my short arm BabyLock Quilters Choice Professional on a New Joy frame. I find it relaxing and very satisfying to do my own quilting. I am just learning to do FMQ on my Singer 301a vintage sewing machine, and that’s really fun, too!!
